Mississippi State Board of Education to Meet Virtually on March 26

The Mississippi State Board of Education (SBE) will hold a special-called virtual meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 26, to consider policy waivers for promotion and graduation and recommendations to manage the effects of the statewide school closure. We know you have questions on next steps on policy decisions. MDE is working to address policy questions and will present information to the SBE. ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT

On Thursday, March 19, 2020, MHSAA canceled all athletic events and practices through April 17, 2020.

FOOD SERVICE DEPARTMENT

Starting on Monday, March 23, 2020, NMSD will ONLY serve free Grab 'N Go Breakfast and Lunch at Newton Elementary and Newton High for children who are able to visit our neighborhood schools. However, no eating is allowed on campus.

Also starting on March 23, 2020, NMSD buses will begin running mobile feeding routes. Please click the bus below for times and locations.


COVID-19 UPDATE #2

In accordance with Governor Tate Reeves’ emergency declaration, NMSD will remain closed through Friday, April 17, 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 impact. All school facilities will remain closed to the public until further notice. However, the NMSD faculty and staff are working to provide printed resource packets as well as web-based instructional resources which will be available at www.nmsd.us next week.
